Pam Harvey graduated as a physiotherapist in 1987, and has a Master of Education (2010). She is currently a part-time creative PhD candidate at the University of Canberra investigating how ill adolescents are represented in young adult fiction. Pam works at Monash University Rural Health as a lecturer, medical educational researcher and program developer.

As well as being a health professional educator and researcher, Pam is the author of 15 children’s books and actively involved in children’s writing professional organisations. She is a member of the Victorian Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA), the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). In 2014, she was the recipient of a VicArts grant to develop a young adult novel featuring adolescents with chronic illness. Pam has presented at conferences nationally and internationally speaking about child illness narratives, medical humanities and young adult fiction; and the use of young adult fiction in bibliotherapy
