Judy Johnson has written five volumes of poetry, several chapbooks and a novel.  Forthcoming from UWA Publishing is a themed collection Dark Convicts based on the experiences of her First Fleet ex-slave ancestors. Her poetry prizes include the Victorian Premier’s Award, Wesley Michel Wright Prize (twice) and shortlisting in the WA Premier’s Award. Her verse novel Jack, published by Picador, was on the syllabus of both Sydney and Melbourne University.  She is one of four editors of the anthology Contemporary Australian Poetry (Puncher & Wattmann, 2016).
