Adam Aitken was born in London and spent his early childhood in Malaysia and Thailand, before settling in Sydney. In 2010 he was the Visiting Distinguished Writer at University of Hawai’i. His poetry includes the Avenue of nations commemorative sculpture at Centennial Park, Sydney. Eighth habitation (shortlisted for the Adelaide Festival poetry book award), Tonto's revenge (Tinfish Press, Hawai'i) and November already, a Vagabond chap book. He is also co-editor of Contemporary Asian Australian poets (Puncher and Wattmann). In 2012 he was resident at the Australia Council’s Keesing Studio, Paris, where he spent six months completing new work. He holds a PhD in creative writing from the University of Technology, Sydney, where he works as a learning advisor.
