Carmen Leigh Keates’s poems have been published in many journals and anthologies, including Best Australian Poems 2013 (Black Inc), and Australian Poetry Journal. Her work has been shortlisted for the Whitmore Manuscript Prize, the Alec Bolton Prize for an Unpublished Manuscript, the Josephine Ulrick Poetry Prize, and the ACU Prize for Literature. Many of her recent poems look at the work of the Russian film director, Andrei Tarkovsky. In October 2014, an Arts QLD Individuals’ Fund grant allowed Carmen to stay at the Kelly Street Writers’ Cottage in Hobart and to read at the Tasmanian Poetry Festival in Launceston.
